UTTERANCES: THE MYSTERY OF SOUND

This teaching is centered on the Music Ministry which I believe, you are a part of or have affiliations with.
The music ministry stands upon two legs which is the Spiritual and the Physical, and being groomed in both areas is what makes for an Impactful music Minstry.

However for this teaching, we will first be considering the music ministry within the context of its relevance to our generation.

It’s important for us to understand that every divine assignment given man by God (Minstrels ministry inclusive) is only relevant within the context of either a generation, a season or a place or locality and it is our ability to understand and align with this that really makes one a force to reckon with.

Note that the word MINSTREL is used as a general name for all class of musicians.

So let’s first look at the prophecy about our generation and see how the topic comes in.

Joel 2 contains the prophecy that hangs upon our generation and it contains all the characteristics of this end time army. But something striking is found in the Very first verse where it says,

‘Blow ye the Trumpet in Zion and SOUND an alarm on my holy mountain…’

Joel 2:1

The first characteristic of this end time army is that they have the ability to discern sounds.

You would observe that the essence of the blown trumpet and the alarm was to wake and call forth this army but if they can’t understand the Sound being communicated, how can they awake and respond?

Now The book of Nums 10:1-10 where the commandment on sounds was first given contains several information, but we’ll focus on the two which concern us here;

1) Different sounds convey different meanings.
2) The Levitical order of priests are the human channels by which this sound are conveyed (Verse 8).

I want to believe we are aware that the music ministry is tied to our Priestly office? (Rev 5:10), Hence every minstrel is a member of the Levitical order.
So we find two things among others from Joel 2:1.

– Every member of this end time army, including those whose ability and grace will find expression through the Music Minstry as minstrels, must be able to recognize and discern Sound.

– The Minstrels being the Levitical priests are burdened with the assignment of picking the Sound from the Spirit realm and replicating/reproducing it in the Natural.

Thus the first assignment of a music minister is to be attuned to the Spirit realm where heavenly sounds can be received and transported into the natural realm.

Now a minstrel could be a singer, a player of an instrument, a psalmist or one who eulogises (these are the common ones which will be our emphasis)
Each of the above listed class of minstrels have the endowment of picking Sounds from the Spirit realm although only the first two are mostly seen today.

But What is Sound itself?

Is it the different notes being sang or played?

The Hebrew word transcribed as SOUND in the old testament is ‘KOLE‘. This is the same Hebrew word transcribed as VOICE in the Old testament.

The words SOUND and VOICE represent the same thing.
Thus, first Sound is a Voice.

Now a look at several portions of scripture starting with Gen 3:8

‘And they heard the VOICE of the lord God Walking in the garden…’

Does a voice have legs?
Psalm 29 does reveal to us that the voice of the Lord refers to His person.
Thus, Sound is the voice of the Presence of the Lord.

Hence the minstrel is one that sustains the spiritual technology to pick what God is saying and communicate it through the notes of an instrument or the words of a song, psalm or through an eulogy which is referred to as A SOUND.

Do you ever wonder why the entire book of psalm was written by Minstrels? From David to Asaph to the Sons of Korah: They are all part of the clan of minstrels listed in 1st and 2nd Chronicles.

Let’s looks at Isa 30:29-30.
We find that a song or the notes of an instrument (pipe here represents instruments) is the prelude to the arrival of the Voice which refers to both HIS PRESENCE and THE UTTERANCE OR THE WORD HIS COMMUNICATES.

In summary, Sounds introduce the speakings that accompany God’s presence into a place, it is picked by Minstrels, which ever the class, and reproduced as either a song, a psalm or a tune.

I must state here that this kind of Minstrels minstry is gradually being restored in our generation. Minstrels that function by the spur of the moment based on the movements detected in the Spirit realm.

The third thing I want to say about sound, the minstrels and the music Minstey is that, only through functioning by the Spirit of Prophecy can minstrels pick these Spirit sounds.

It is important to note that the entire book of Psalms was written by people who were minstrels under the influence of the holy spirit as the Spirit of Prophecy.

Think about it, you just wake up one morning with a tune or a song you’ve never heard before and you know it was the Holyspirit that gave you but might not be aware it is the Holyspirit functioning as the Spirit of Prophecy that is responsible.

How Does The Spirit of Prophecy Function?

Now, the Spirit of Prophecy functions by INSPIRATION. You’re in a meeting, you hear a chord played and suddenly, a full tune or song begins to well up from deep within you – An Inspiration.
Does this implies that just making of sound with ur voice brings down or makes manifest God’s presence?
No. Rather reproducing the Sound received from the Spirit realm by the inspiration of the Holyspirit is what brings God’s presence down or manifests God’s presence.

1 Cor 14:6-10 sums up everything that has been said thus far;

– Sounds are received and reproduced by minstrels either though direct singing, psalms or playing on an instrument.

– In cases where the minstrel is a player of an instrument under the influence of the Spirit, the notes of whatever tune received are actual words, 1 Sam 16:23.

Note: Just anybody can acquire the natural skill and compose a song to sing or play a tune but only under the influence of the Spirit can the inspiration upon which the minstrels ministry thrives be received.

Spiritual Ears

It is with the ears of your Spirit you first hear these sounds. Just as your music or mind’s ear is a primary requirement in the physical for being a great singer, the same way your spiritual ears are most important to being a minstrel.

As a minstrel, your ears come before your voice or the hands with which you play.

For example, you’re in a meeting and there’s so much praises going on by the choir, but it is glaring God’s presence isn’t there. Then all of a sudden, you begin to hear an entirely different song from the one being sang by the choir.
That song you just heard is heaven letting you in on the SOUND frequency heaven is on.

Say you get the chance to take over the praise and sing that received Song, GOD’S PRESENCE WILL BREAK OUT IN THAT PLACE.

That’s what minstrels do. THEY receive and release the SOUND that transports God into a place.

HOW DO I ALIGN MORE WITH GOD’S DEFINITION OF A MINSTREL?

1) Yield: We yield to God through Death not through Skills. Skills ALONE isn’t what makes a minstrel. It’s first your ability to pick heaven’s sounds, interpret and reproduce it through the words of your songs, psalm or by playing on an instrument, plus Skill for proper effectiveness that makes you one.

Ask yourself these questions?

A. Has my minstrel minstry grown to the point where my voice becomes the voice through which He sings?
Zeph 3:17 says,

He will joy over thee with singing.

But God won’t sing from heaven, it is through the voice of a minstrel on earth he does his singing by inspiring the song in them.

B. Can He, through the Spirit of Joy, pull you into the Secret place just because he wants to dance, laugh or even cry?
These are part of the minstrels minstry unto God. You’ve probably experienced such at some point in worship or praise?

No generationally relevant Minstrels ministry is borne in a choir or a music group (they are all platforms to pull others into the experience and call them to partake of what you have), rather it is birthed from the secret place of intimacy with the Spirit.

It’s important we know that nothing done by any man has the capacity to please God not to talk of manifesting his presence in a place. It is that which is offered to him BY HIS SPIRIT alone that gets him. So you as a minstrel must first become a truly spiritual person (a spiritual person is one who, through death and yieldedness, does all things by the input or energy of the Spirit – His help ministry).

2). Fiery Prayer Altar:
This is the second attritube music minister must possess to be relevant.
Be prayed up till you move from praying with the spirit to the point of praying in the Spirit.
This is where deep things are received from God, sounds and tunes in this case.

Have you ever gotten so lost in prayer that you began to sing in the spirit and you also received the interpretation of the song in words or began to hear singing of angels or received tunes or prophetic psalms?

All of these are part of the dimensions made available to minstrels. We must press in to matter to this generation (not carnally. It’s easily done carnally these days by most. Anyone can just begin to sing in tongues. It’s not same as singing in the spirit).

3). Be a Continual Seeker of God:
Your depth in the spirit – that is the Spiritual height from which you function – is of utmost importance to what you receive.
You can’t take away your depth in God. It will determine the quality, impact and longevity of the sounds you receive.

4) Ask The Holyspirit To Quicken Your Spiritual Ears:
Without it, you’ll still have a beautiful voice, do riffs and runs and probably be a chart topping Singer, but you would have robbed a generation of the God they could have encountered through your Music Minstry.

You might want to say this prayer right now.

Holy spirit perform a surgery on my ears and cause it to pop open that I may receive sounds on the freuency of Heaven, in Jesus name, Amen.
