Some believers think of the Holy Spirit as that part of God that is always spooky. We look forward to seeing the Holy Spirit work in our midst, expecting weird things to happen. We expect things like, a falling during prayer hours, a kneeling during worship, or even crying, to validate the presence of the Spirit.
Most times we base the next move of the Spirit on our past experiences of Him. But the Holy Spirit is not only a wind that causes a whirl. He can also be as still as peace!
It will be helpful to know that the work of the Holy Spirit is not to be separated from the work of the Father and the Son. He is eternally existing together with the Father and Son as one God, and all that he does in the life of a believer is a result of God the Father’s initiative, made possible by the work of God the Son – The work of the Triune, God the Father, the Son, and the Spirit, – to accomplish all that God wants in our lives.
The Holy Spirit is given to dwell with you here on earth without having to return per time as he did with prophets in the old testament. Since the departure of Jesus Christ from the earth, the Holy Spirit has remained with us according to the promise of the Father (Joel 2:28, Acts 2:17-18). He has work to do in us, with us, for us, and through us. He also has gifts to deliver to us as Christians, according to the will of the Father, and the provision of the Son. He knows what is to be applied for the ultimate and appropriate working of God in our lives and the church at large.
